To provide a selection of illuminated birds in various sizes for external use throughout Europe as visual merchandise props and decorations for a Christmas campaign. The birds are required to have variable fixing options to suit different environments and substrates. They were also required to be series linkable to minimize the power requirements.
How we achieved this
Our designers created 3D models of birds suitable for final production moulding. Working ‘agile’ to ensure there was no delay from the critical path we had agreed with the client, the prototyping underwent several design changes until we achieved ‘approval’.
Due to the quantity of the birds required, the 3D prints were then sent to our facility in the far east to enable them to manufacture the molds from them. Shortly afterwards a member of our team attended the factory in China to ensure the quality of the mould met our specification, ensuring the lighting method and style was suitable for the project.
At this stage our team members also signed off the foot plate mechanism with the factory based on our pre-approved technical drawings.
The first samples were brought back to the UK in the appropriate packaging for final sign off – ahead of the production run commencing.
When the containers arrived in the UK, we managed quality control for the entire consignment; allocated packs to sites; compiled installation guides; added fixings; and undertook logistics for nine locations across Europe.
