国際寿司デー

Sushi – or, Narezushi – began life as a method of storing and preserving fish for future consumption. Originally the rice was thrown away and only the fish was consumed, but, in Japan between 1600 and 1800 it changed and became the cuisine that we know today.

Over the last twenty years, sushi has become a very popular food in the UK with one in five adults saying that they enjoy eating it. This makes it the fourth most popular Asian food in the UK. Here are three reasons why you should celebrate ‘International Sushi Day’:

  1. Taste – the possibilities are almost endless. You can create your own combinations of seafood, vegetables, seasoning and sauces.
  2. Healthiness – it is difficult to find a healthier dish. It is full of protein, vitamins and carbohydrates.
  3. Cool – when it comes to cool food, sushi is the king of cool!

Don’t forget, it’s also International Picnic Day. You can combine the two – take Sushi on your picnic. Here are some recipes.
